Outdoor Products Use Around Water

Maggie's Farm outdoor products, except for the Maggie’s Farm Beetle & Boxelder Bug Killer and Vegetable Garden Insect & Disease Control, can be used around lakes, ponds, streams, and other bodies of water since the plant oils used as the active ingredients do not persist in the soil and break down relatively quickly in water (up to 48 hours). Our products have dramatically lower potential for toxicity to fish versus many common synthetic pesticides. That being said, our products are not labeled (and therefore should not be used) for direct applications to water. The Beetle & Boxelder Bug Killer product uses natural pyrethrins as the active ingredient, which can be toxic to fish. It should not be applied directly to or near water, storm drains, or drainage ditches.
